This Eclectrocasts podcast features Bungendore, NSW Australian sound sculpture artist, Instrument builder, and experimental synth noise drone musician Brian McNamara, who publishes his music under Cup & Bow and his instrument designs as Rarebeasts.

Brian McNamara mixes his passions for music, electronics and sculpture into unique objects that should need no explanation to play or experience but convey a deeper meaning in the context of their surroundings.

Brian McNamara builds a range of experimental instruments, with a focus on both autonomous soundart sculptures and interactive installation instruments that require the engagement of multiple people or unusual kinetic movements to be played. His instruments include computer programmed elements, percussion, found sounds from used electronics and purpose designed oscillators.

A key feature of Brian McNamara's work is audience movement and participation. Art functions best when the art space is inclusive of the public so through his exploration of experimental sounds he uses engagement with the audience as a medium to convey ideas. These explorations include the link between the environment and technology, our own movement around the planet with movement of those fleeing war torn areas and the link between our own minds and those we try to create in machines.

Brian McNamara was a national finalist for the Etsy design awards for his soundart piece The EMDS synth (2015) and won the ReArt peoples choice award for the Automaphone (2015) an autonomous device that interprets drawings into music.

We spoke with Brian McNamara via Skype on 9 July, 2017.

This Eclectrocasts podcast features USA based curator, fan, supporter, and promotor of indie music, Tracy Perry, who operates the weekly online radio show Tracy's Expansion Of Presence. 'Expansion of Presence' is an aural journey across genres, presenting unsigned artists and new artists. We talked with Tracy about how she came to do this show and how she curates the tracks she uses and the order in which she plays them.

Tracy selected four tracks for us to listen to. They appear in the order below:

Jim Wylde. How We Break Each Other, from the album Songs for the broken hearted from the departed. http://music.iosound.ca/album/songs-for-the-brokenhearted-from-the-departed

Unknown Land. Pulse (The Sweetest Condition Mix) from the album 33deg Alternate Realities http://ukld.net/

How To Disappear Completely. Aislin from the album: Mer de Revs https://htdc.bandcamp.com/

Trixie Delight and Tourmaline Hum. Frozen from the album 33 1/3 https://tcfsr.bandcamp.com/track/frozen-2

While so far we have strictly interviewed musicians in our two-year plus existence, we wanted to turn the table and get the point of view from someone who represents the people that listen to our music. It became a fascinating conversation that we hope you will find useful and instructive.

We spoke with Tracy Perry on 9 May, 2017 via Skype.

This Eclectrocasts podcasts features the Swedish, Gothenburg based band Eyemouth consisting of Joakim Aberg (bass and guitar), Hakan Aspnas (drums), and Marcus  Lilja (vocals, synthesizers, programming). We talked about their music and the deeper philosophical underpinnings of their work.

Eyemouth presents a soundscape with a unique blend of mellotrons, organic elements such as vibraphone, santur (like a Persian Santoor, Dulcimer like instrument) and accordion, together with an atmospheric and almost psychedelic rock instrumentation. With a distance, reverie and dark undertones, the music aims to provide a deeper understanding about the different aspects of life. Eyemouth has an alter ego band called Estrange and in this podcast we feature music from both of these artistic projects.
